Motorcycle Pre-Provisional Licence Training

Course Overview:
Held over one day, this Pre-Provisional course equips riders with the skills and knowledge necessary to obtain their licence from Service Tasmania.
Riders who wish to obtain their Provisional Licence must complete this course, as required by the Tasmanian Government. We run this course out of a number of facilities across the state, including:
- DECA Moonah
- Penguin High School
- Prospect High School
Price:
$262 per person (GST included)
Please note: From July 1st 2013, price will be $265 per person (GST included)
Please Note: There is a $60 discount for riders who undertake this course using their own motorcycle
This amount will be refunded following the completion of the course
Motorcycle must be registered, roadworthy and LAMS approved
From July 1st 2013, this above mentioned discount will be $20
Learning Outcomes:
Performing pre-ride safety inspections
Basic motorcycle control
Right and left turns
Turning speed judgement
Hazard avoidance skills
Braking
Course includes a M.O.S.T. test and an on-road ride component
Certification:
Successful participants will receive a Certificate of Competency from DECA. This certificate is valid for three months after the date of issue
Course Specifics:
Lasts for one day (8 hours)
Held with a maximum of six learners per trainer
DECA provides motorcycles, helmets, gloves and wet weather gear (if required) at no extra charge
Entry Requirements:
Hold a current Tasmanian learner motorcycle licence
Have held licence continuously for at least six months
Must be at least 17 years of age
Wear appropriate clothing with full skin cover for riding motorcycles, including an approved helmet and gloves
